Obverse description Central field features the crowned arms of Fribourg — a crenellated gateway tower with three merlons, set within an ornate cartouche with foliate and scroll decoration. A decorative floral or heraldic crest surmounts the shield above the gateway. The circular Latin legend * MO * NO * RE * FRIBVRGENSIS (meaning 'New Money of Fribourg') runs along the periphery, separated by star stops, within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description Central field displays a plain cross with four foliate or trefoil ornaments placed in each quarter, evoking the civic heraldic cross tradition of Swiss cantonal coinage. The circular Latin legend SANCIVS + NICOLAVSE + with the date (e.g. 1715) runs along the periphery within a beaded inner border, invoking the patron saints Sanctus Nicholas, characteristic of Fribourg devotional coinage of the early 18th century.
