Obverse description Central field features the Slovak national shield — depicting a double-barred patriarchal cross rising from a three-peaked mountain — flanked on either side by laurel branches forming a wreath. The legend SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA curves along the upper periphery, and the date 1939 appears in the lower field below the shield. The design is rendered in bold relief with a beaded border running along the rim.

Additional information

Slovakia's First Republic lasted from March 1939 until its absorption into the Soviet sphere in 1945 — a puppet state created directly by Nazi pressure on the Slovak leadership following the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia. Trial strikes from the regime's inaugural year represent the new government's immediate push to establish independent monetary infrastructure, often produced in small numbers to test dies before full production authorization was granted.

The 1939 copper-nickel trials are rarely documented with surviving mintage figures.
