Comments

Munkács issued these emergency notes in 1919 during one of the most chaotic territorial transitions in post-war Central Europe — the town passed through Hungarian, Ukrainian People's Republic, and eventually Czechoslovak control within months. The municipal treasury printed its own fractional currency simply because there was no functioning central authority to supply it. Self-printed by the city's own in-house press, the notes show the rough, uneven impression quality typical of non-specialist print operations working without intaglio equipment.

Ambrus catalogues this as II#1555, placing it within the broader Hungarian municipal emergency issue classifications of 1919.
