| Obverse description | Central device features the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread and each head surmounted by a separate imperial crown, the whole topped by a third larger crown above. The eagle bears a shield on its breast and holds a sceptre and orb in its talons, with crossed fasces and a laurel branch below. The engraver's initials 'Н А' appear in the lower field flanking the eagle's body, with the date '1838.' inscribed along the lower rim. The design is rendered in a bold, high-relief neoclassical style characteristic of Nicholas I-era coinage. No peripheral legend is present, the field being plain. |
