Obverse description Central field bears the elaborate interlaced Cyrillic monogram of Catherine II (Екатерина II), composed of stylized letters surmounted by an imperial crown. The partial date '17 8' flanks the lower portion of the monogram. The monogram is framed by two symmetrical sprays of oak and laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The coin's rim is defined by a bold milled border of raised beads.

Reverse description The reverse depicts Saint George as an armored knight on a rearing horse, thrusting a lance downward at a dragon beneath the horse's hooves, rendered in high relief in the manner of the Moscow city arms. A scrolled ribbon cartouche beneath the scene bears the denomination legend in Cyrillic. The entire design is contained within a plain field bordered by a continuous milled bead rim.
