Obverse description Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed in the centre of the field, with wings spread and each head crowned, surmounted by a large Imperial crown above. The breast of the eagle bears a central shield depicting St. George slaying the dragon, surrounded by multiple smaller armorial shields on the wings representing the territories of the Russian Empire. The entire design is set within a raised beaded border and the field is unlettered, characteristic of the pattern coinage of Alexander II's reign.
