Obverse description Within a rope-bordered circular inner field on a square klippe flan, the crowned and nimbed Madonna is depicted standing in full figure, holding the Christ Child on her left arm, with a sceptre or staff extending to the left. Below the Madonna, a large ecclesiastical coat of arms of Archbishop Paris von Lodron is displayed, featuring a lion rampant and ornate mantling with tassels. The encircling Latin legend references the Archbishop by name and title, invoking Marian protection with the phrase SUB TUUM PRAESIDIUM CONFUGIMUS.
