| Obverse description | Central field bears the numeral '2' enclosed within a circular cartouche, surrounded by a thin circular Arabic legend naming the Ottoman Sultan Al-Ghazi Abdulmecid Khan. The entire central device is encircled by a wreath of stylized palm branches tied at the base with a ribbon, all set within a reeded border. The overall design is executed in low relief typical of Tunisian copper coinage of the mid-nineteenth century. |
