Obverse description Central shield bearing the British East India Company coat of arms, flanked by two rampant lion supporters standing on a foliate base. The shield is surmounted by a crested helm with two crossed flags and a lion passant as crest. The circular legend 'EAST INDIA COMPANY' arcs above in bold Latin lettering, while the secondary legend 'AUSPICIO REGIS & SENATUS ANGLIÆ' encircles the design. The date 1804 appears prominently in the exergue below the shield.
