The shield is surmounted by a crested helm with two crossed flags and a lion passant as crest. The circular legend 'EAST INDIA COMPANY' arcs above in bold Latin lettering, while the secondary legend 'AUSPICIO REGIS & SENATUS ANGLIÆ' encircles the design.
