Obverse description Left-facing uniformed bust of Yuan Shikai, President of the Republic of China, rendered in high relief in the distinctive 'Fat Man' style attributed to engraver Luigi Giorgi. The effigy is finely detailed with military collar and insignia visible. A horizontal legend in Chinese characters reading 中華民國三年 (Year 3 of the Republic of China) appears above the bust in the upper field. The coin is struck within a beaded border. As a double obverse mule, this die is paired with an identical obverse die on the reverse.
