Obverse description Uniformed bust of Yuan Shikai facing left, rendered in the rotund 'Fat Man' style characteristic of this provincial issue. The effigy is flanked by a single Chinese character on each side, with a horizontal legend of six characters arched above reading the date and issuing authority. The portrait is set within a beaded border with no exergue line, and the overall design reflects the influence of Italian engraver Luigi Giorgi.
