| Obverse description | The obverse of this nonagonal silver coin features a stylized celestial composition centered on a sleeping infant rendered in low relief against a spiraling field populated with all twelve zodiac symbols, alternating sun and crescent moon motifs, and decorative star elements arranged in concentric arcs. The Ukrainian coat of arms (tryzub) appears at the top center within a small shield, flanked by the Cyrillic legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ arcing along the upper periphery. The denomination ДВІ ГРИВНІ is inscribed along the lower margin in bold Cyrillic lettering. To the lower left of the central design, the fineness mark Ag 925 and the weight 7.78 are incused into the field, with the date 2014 appearing at the lower right. |

Issued in 2014, a year defined by the Euromaidan revolution, the annexation of Crimea, and the outbreak of war in Donbas — circumstances that made routine commemorative minting an act of institutional continuity as much as anything else. The National Bank of Ukraine maintained its collector program through that year despite the broader collapse of the hryvnia on foreign exchange markets, where it lost roughly half its value against the dollar between January and December.
