Obverse description Within a raised inner circle, the civic arms of Cologne are depicted: three crowns arranged in a row above a horizontal dividing bar, with the numeral '2' flanked by two small stars in the lower half of the field, denoting the denomination of 2 Heller. The design is rendered in low relief characteristic of hammered coinage, with the irregular flan edge typical of early seventeenth-century German pattern pieces. No peripheral legend is present; the composition is purely armorial and denominational in character.
