Obverse description Elaborately interlaced crowned cypher of Duke Louis Rudolph (LR monogram) occupying the central field, rendered in an ornate Baroque script with intertwining strokes. The royal crown surmounts the monogram, its arches and pearls clearly defined. The surrounding legend reads DVCI.BRVNSVICENS:ET.LVNEB: distributed around the periphery in Latin capital letters, identifying the duke as ruler of Brunswick and Lüneburg. The coin's milled border frames the composition neatly.
