| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Maximilian II of Bavaria, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair and side-whiskers in the Neoclassical style. The king's truncation is unadorned, and the engraver's signature C. VOIGT appears at the base of the neck. The legend MAXIMILIAN II surrounds the left and lower portion of the field, while KŒNIG V. BAYERN arcs along the upper right. The portrait is set within a plain field bordered by a fine toothed rim. |
