The circular legend LUDWIG I KOENIG VON BAYERN runs along the inner border of the toothed rim, divided by the portrait. |

| Reverse description | The quartered Bavarian royal arms on a heraldic shield, surmounted by a royal crown with arches and orb, and supported on either side by a rampant lion as heraldic guardian, each lion facing the shield and bearing a small crown. The shield and supporters rest upon a decorative foliate base. The denomination ZWEY GULDEN arcs across the upper field as the primary legend, while the date 1845 is placed in the lower exergual area beneath the supporters. The design is contained within a toothed rim. |
