Obverse description Central device features the double-headed imperial eagle of Frankfurt, displayed with wings spread and detailed feather work, facing outward with both heads turned to either side. The eagle bears a floriated cross on its breast shield and displays ornate tail feathers. The circular legend surrounding the eagle reads CONSTITUIRENDE VERSAMMLUNG I.D.F. STADT FRANKFURT 18. MAI 1848, referencing the convening of the Frankfurt National Assembly on 18 May 1848. The coin's border features a fine toothed rim, and the overall engraving style is characteristic of mid-19th century German commemorative coinage.
