Obverse description Central field displays the crowned coat of arms of Gelderland, the shield divided by a privy mark (mounted horse) with the date appearing above the crown. The arms are flanked by the divided value indication. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, denoting the silver coinage of the federated estates of Guelders and Zutphen. The overall style is consistent with late seventeenth-century Dutch provincial hammered coinage.
