Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King William III facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing periwig hair cascading to the shoulder. The effigy displays strong baroque portraiture characteristic of late 17th-century Royal Mint coinage. A Latin legend encircles the bust close to the milled border, reading GVLIELMUS III DEI GRA. The field is smooth and broad, with the truncation of the bust visible at the lower portion of the die.
