Reverse description Cruciform, crowned quartered shield of arms prominently occupying the centre of the field, displaying the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (rampant lion), France (three fleurs-de-lis), Ireland (harp), and Hanover (the arms of Brunswick-Lueneburg with electoral bonnet) in the four quarters, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. Elaborate baroque scrollwork and mantling flank the shield on either side. The date is divided across the top of the shield, with '17' to the left and '40' to the right within the legend. The full royal titulature in abbreviated Latin runs around the periphery.
