Obverse description Quartered coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg surmounted by a ducal crown, the shield divided into four quarters displaying the heraldic devices of Oldenburg and its associated territories. The arms are flanked on either side by a laurel or oak branch garland. The abbreviated legend N.D.C.F. appears in the field. The design is rendered in a plain, unadorned neoclassical style typical of early 19th-century German state coinage.
