| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Syrus (Siro), patron bishop of Pavia, nimbate and vested in episcopal robes with pallium, standing erect beneath a triple-arched canopy. The saint holds a crozier in his right hand and raises his left hand in a gesture of benediction. The figure is rendered in the stylised Romanesque-Gothic manner typical of north Italian civic coinage of the early fourteenth century. The name of the saint is inscribed in the field to either side of the figure, and the whole is enclosed within a beaded border. |
