Reverse description Central device consists of a crowned oval shield bearing the quartered arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, flanked by ornamental supporters and set within a wreath. The date 94 (for 1694) appears above the shield. Below the arms, a horizontal cartouche contains the denomination inscription '12 EINEN THALER', with the mintmaster's initials 'GF' displayed beneath in a small decorative cartouche. The legend 'MONETA NOVA SALFELD.' curves along the outer periphery, identifying the mint at Saalfeld.
