| Obverse description | A seated lion facing left, wearing a tournament helmet surmounted by a peacock plume, rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of medieval Low Countries coinage. A small escutcheon bearing a rampant double-tailed lion is superimposed upon the plume. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by a decorative ring of arcs forming a lozenge-shaped border. The outer legend, separated by a beaded circle, reads EDWARDVS : DEI : GRA : DVX : Z : DNS : GELREN', identifying the issuer as Edward, by the Grace of God Duke and Lord of Guelders. |
