| Obverse description | A rampant lion facing left, bearing a heraldic shield upon its chest, rendered in a Gothic medieval style characteristic of Low Countries billon coinage. The lion is enclosed within two concentric pearled circles forming the border. A circular legend in Latin uncial script occupies the space between the inner and outer pearled circles, reading the name and title of the issuing lord. The overall design is typical of the 'Kromstaart' (crooked-tail) type, named for the distinctive curl of the lion's tail. |
