Obverse description A rampant lion passant to the left occupies the central field, its chest bearing the armorial shield of Sombreffe. The figure is rendered in the late medieval Gothic style typical of Low Countries billon coinage, with stylised mane and curled tail. The lion is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A circumferential legend in uncial Gothic lettering runs between the inner and outer borders, naming William of Sombreffe as Lord of Reckheim.
