Reverse description A bold long cross with plain arms extends to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quadrants, each containing a heraldic shield within a decorative frame. The upper-left and lower-right quadrants display the fleur-de-lis of France, while the upper-right and lower-left quadrants bear the diagonal stripes (bendy) of Burgundy or Valkenburg. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script runs between the beaded inner circle and the irregular outer edge of the flan, invoking a Scriptural benediction consistent with standard Burgundian gros coinage of the period.
