Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Christian IV facing right, wearing an elaborate royal crown adorned with fleurs-de-lis and orb finial, with long curled hair and a beard, contained within a beaded inner circle. The king's effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the armor, collar, and mantle. A circular Latin legend runs between the beaded inner circle and the milled outer border.

Reverse description A large, ornate royal crown dominates the central field, depicted in high relief with elaborate floral and foliate cresting, set within a beaded inner circle. Below the crown, the mint-master's initials R·F·P appear in the lower field. The date 16Z8 (1628) is incorporated into the surrounding Latin legend, which runs between the beaded inner circle and the milled outer border.
