Obverse description Central field bears the sultan's name and title in Arabic script (Shah Muhammad) enclosed within a double linear ring, the whole surrounded by a radiating or toothed border. A secondary legend in Devanagari script — reading 'Sri Sultan Alavadin' — occupies the annular space between the inner double ring and the outer toothed border, though it frequently falls partially off the irregular flan. The bold, densely packed calligraphy is characteristic of hammered Khalji-period billon coinage, with the double-ring framing device a hallmark of Alauddin's coinage type.
