| Obverse description | Allegorical seated figure of the French Republic, depicted as Marianne, facing left and enthroned in classical drapery, holding a fasces-topped sceptre in her raised right hand and embracing a smaller female figure at her left side, symbolising the French Union. To the right, a partially visible inscribed tablet appears in the background. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE arcs along the left rim and UNION FRANCAISE along the right rim.
