Additional information

Morocco's post-war coinage was struck in Paris because the Protectorate administration had no independent mint — every piece was produced at Monnaie de Paris under French authority, a fact that sat increasingly uneasily with Mohammed V as nationalist sentiment intensified through the late 1940s. Four years after this coin was struck, the French exiled him to Madagascar, triggering such widespread unrest that they were forced to restore him within two years. He returned as a king rather than a sultan.
