| Obverse description | Left-facing bare-headed bust of Prince Louis II occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed facial features. A beaded border frames the design along the coin's periphery. The engraver's signature L. MAUBERT appears in small letters beneath the truncation of the bust. The circular legend LOUIS II PRINCE DE MONACO runs around the upper portion of the coin in incuse Latin lettering between the bust and the beaded border. |

| Reverse description | The full arms of the Princes of Monaco occupy the central field, featuring a lozenge-patterned shield surmounted by a princely crown and supported by two armored knights holding swords, each clad in an ermine-trimmed mantle. The motto DEO JUVANTE appears on a ribbon across the lower portion of the shield. The numeral 2 is placed prominently on either side of the arms in large raised figures. The denomination FRANCS is inscribed in bold letters beneath the arms, and the word ESSAI appears in the exergue, confirming the essai (trial strike) status. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design. |
