Comments

The Kommandos de la Reconstruction were German-organized labor units deployed in occupied France to repair war-damaged infrastructure. This internal scrip circulated exclusively within those camps — not in the surrounding civilian economy — and was a deliberate mechanism to prevent workers from accumulating French francs that could fund flight or resistance activity.

The Eure département saw heavy bombing damage to its rail and road network, particularly around Évreux. Notes from these labor command issues survive in small numbers, as most were surrendered or destroyed at the Liberation.
