Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, wearing her hair pinned up with a winged diadem and flowing tresses descending to the shoulder. In the left field, a stylized depiction of minarets or towers appears behind the bust. The circumferential legend reads REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, with the date 1964 inscribed in the lower exergue. The engraver's signatures L.BAZOR and GB appear at the lower left and lower right of the bust respectively.
