Obverse description The obverse features an open laurel and olive wreath encircling the central field, its two branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The national name FRANCE appears in bold raised capital letters at the centre of the field within the wreath. The composition is stark and heraldic, devoid of any figural imagery, reflecting the austere emergency coinage aesthetic adopted by the French provisional authorities during the Liberation period.

Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination 2 FR in large, boldly raised numerals and letters dominating the central field, with the numeral 2 occupying the upper portion and FR positioned immediately below. The Republican motto LIBERTE-EGALITE-FRATERNITE curves along the upper periphery in raised capital letters, while the date 1944 is inscribed along the lower rim, flanked on each side by a small decorative rosette. The overall design is typographic and unadorned, characteristic of the Philadelphia Mint's wartime emergency coinage struck for liberated France.
