Obverse description The obverse bears the socialist coat of arms of the Hungarian People's Republic at center: a shield divided horizontally, with a rising sun motif in the upper portion and horizontal stripes below, encircled by two wheat ears tied at the base with a ribbon. A five-pointed star surmounts the wreath. The date appears at the lower base of the wreath, and the circular legend MAGYAR · NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG runs along the periphery.
