Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Francis Joseph I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the nape. The emperor is shown with side-whiskers and a bare neck truncation. The circular Latin legend reads FRANC·IOS·I·D·G·AUSTRIAE·IMPERATOR, separated by periods, running along the inner border of beaded rim. The mint mark letter A appears at the base of the bust below the truncation, indicating the Vienna Mint. The overall portrait style reflects the neo-classical engraving tradition of Josef Daniel Böhm.
