| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the Medici papal arms — a shield bearing six roundels (palle) in the characteristic Medici arrangement — surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter, all within an elaborate foliate cartouche. The surrounding circular legend reads PONT MAX and CLEMEN VII, identifying Pope Clement VII (Giulio de' Medici). The coin is struck within a beaded border typical of hammered Renaissance papal gold coinage. |
