Obverse description Central field features four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern, read top to bottom and right to left, flanked by a decorative rosette or floral ornament at the centre. The entire central motif is encircled by a continuous band of Chinese legend denoting the provincial authority, reign title, denomination, and silver-equivalent value. The design is contained within an inner beaded border.

Reverse description A sinuous five-clawed Imperial dragon is depicted in high relief, coiling through auspicious cloud scrolls across the full field of the coin. The dragon faces forward with an open mouth and prominent horns, its scaled body curving dramatically from upper left to lower right, with clawed feet outstretched. A flaming pearl is positioned at the centre beneath the dragon's head. No mountains or waves appear in the lower field, consistent with the 'without mountains' variety. The design is enclosed by a continuous outer beaded border.
