| Reverse description | A central round hole is encircled by a raised ring, from which four diagonal lines extend outward to form a lozenge or diamond-shaped framework dividing the field into four quadrants. Each quadrant is filled with a naturalistic spray of lotus buds and foliage rendered in low relief, the blossoms radiating symmetrically toward the four points of the diamond. The entire composition is enclosed by a chain-link or cable border running along the rim, giving the reverse an ornate, decorative character. |
