Obverse description The nickel-brass centre features a stylised sun-wheel motif composed of radiating blood-drop forms arranged around a central cross, with a single teardrop-shaped blood drop at the centre of the cross, symbolising the centenary of the first blood transfusion in Slovakia. The commemorative inscription PRVÁ TRANSFÚZIA KRVI arcs along the upper field, with the anniversary dates 1923–2023 continuing to the right, and SLOVENSKO inscribed along the lower field. The four principal ABO blood group designations — A, B, O, and AB — appear within the central cross motif. The mint mark MK of the Kremnica Mint and the engraver's initials MP appear in the lower field. The outer copper-nickel ring carries the standard twelve stars of the European Union.
