| Obverse description | The inner centre features a group of five figures rendered in high relief, adapted from a fresco by the Italian Renaissance painter Pinturicchio (Bernardino di Betto), commemorating the 500th anniversary of his death in 1513. The figures are depicted wearing period costume, including hats and robes characteristic of late fifteenth-century Italian painting. The legend PINTURICCHIO arcs along the upper left field, with the commemorative dates 1513 and 2013 inscribed centrally above the scene. The issuer name SAN MARINO curves along the lower portion of the inner disc, with the engraver's signature MOMONI appearing just above it. Twelve stars of the European Union encircle the outer copper-nickel ring, and the mint mark R appears at the left of the inner circle. |
