| Obverse description | The bimetallic inner core features Hercules, the traditional emblematic figure of French coinage, engaged in antique-style wrestling with the Chimera of Notre-Dame Cathedral, evoking the athletic contests of antiquity in homage to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The two figures are depicted in bold relief in the foreground, with the iconic façade of Notre-Dame Cathedral rising behind them. An athletics track curves across the mid-ground, within which the Paris 2024 Games emblem appears at the left; the date 2024, the national indicator RF, and the mint marks are inscribed along the track. The copper-nickel outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union flag in raised relief. |

| Reverse description | The standard European reverse depicts a cartographic representation of Western Europe rendered in fine relief, spanning both the bimetallic inner core and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The denomination 2 EURO is superimposed across the design, with the large numeral '2' positioned in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Twelve stars of the European Union are arranged along the right portion of the outer ring, divided into two groups of six above and below the map, while six vertical relief stripes cross the inner core, visually linking the upper and lower star groupings. The reverse was designed by Luc Luycx, whose initials LL appear in the field. |
