| Obverse description | The obverse features a three-quarter facing portrait of Maria Montessori set within a rectangular frame, engraved by Luciana De Simoni in a refined sculptural style. To the right of the portrait, three Montessori didactic materials are depicted in a vertical register: a circle enclosing a triangle with corner dots, a subdivided triangle, and a beaded grid block, all emblematic of the Montessori educational method. The birth year '1870' appears at the top of the inner field, the name 'MARIA' is inscribed vertically along the left border of the frame, and 'MONTESSORI' runs horizontally at the base.
