Reverse description The reverse presents the standard common design for eurozone 2 euro coins, featuring a relief map of the European continent extending beyond the coin's inner disc, depicted without national borders and extending into the outer ring area. The face value '2 EURO' is inscribed to the left of the map, with the designer's initials 'LL' (Luc Luycx) appearing to the lower right. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union.

Additional information

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of Sibelius's birth, this coin was part of Finland's broader commemorative program for 2015. Sibelius remains one of the few composers whose work was so bound to national identity that his Finlandia, composed in 1899, was effectively banned by Russian imperial authorities for its power to stir Finnish patriotic sentiment — a rare distinction for a piece of orchestral music.
