Obverse description The national commemorative side depicts a detailed view of the Puerta de Bisagra (Gate of Bisagra), one of the most iconic medieval fortified gateways of Toledo, rendered in fine relief with Moorish-influenced architectural details including arched battlements and crenellated towers visible in the background. The mint mark of the Royal Mint of Spain (a crowned 'M') appears to the upper right of the central design. The legend 'ESPAÑA' is inscribed in the lower left field, with the date '2021' beneath it. The coin bears a small engraver's initial mark on the lower right of the central design. The outer copper-nickel ring features the twelve stars of the European Union.
