Obverse description The obverse features the left-facing effigy of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg occupying the left portion of the nickel-brass centre, rendered in low relief against a plain field. To the right of the portrait stands the grand-ducal crowned monogram, a stylised letter 'H' surmounted by a royal crown, serving as the commemorative motif. The legend 'LËTZEBUERG' arcs along the upper rim of the outer copper-nickel ring, while 'HENRI - Grand-Duc de Luxembourg' curves along the lower rim, separated by small star ornaments. The date '2004' appears to the upper left on the ring, and the engraver's initials 'YC' are placed discreetly in the field. Twelve stars of the European Union are depicted on the outer ring in the customary arrangement.
