Reverse description The reverse displays the standard European Union first-series map design by Luc Luycx, depicting the fifteen member states of the European Union as a cartographic relief set against a globe background. The face value '2 EURO' is inscribed to the left of the map, with the engraver's initials 'LL' appearing below. Twelve stars of the European Union are arranged around the outer ring of the bimetallic coin. The design was common to all eurozone member states for the 2 Euro denomination during the first map series, valid from 2002 until the map was updated in 2007.
