Obverse description The nickel-brass centre features an abstract allegorical design by Pavel Károly and Dalibor Schmidt commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia. Two stylised intertwined figures rendered in high relief dominate the field, symbolising freedom and democracy emerging from oppression. The commemorative dates '1989–2009' appear in the upper portion of the centre field, flanking the central motif. The legend '17. NOVEMBER SLOBODA DEMOKRACIA' curves along the upper arc of the copper-nickel ring, while 'SLOVENSKO' is inscribed along the lower arc, separated by the Kremnica mint mark. Twelve stars of the European Union encircle the outer ring.
