| Obverse description | The central field of the inner disc depicts the celebrated Laocoön Group, the Hellenistic marble sculpture housed in the Vatican Museums, rendered in fine relief. Below the sculptural motif, the legend CITTÀ DEL VATICANO identifies the issuing state, while the curved inscription ANNO EUROPEO DEL PATRIMONIO CULTURALE arcs across the upper field. The year of issue 2018 and the Rome Mint mark R appear at the upper right, with the engraver's signature D. LONGO at the lower right. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union flag. |
